About this book
This book threads humanity’s greatest intellectual journey on a single word: abstraction. Professor Choi Jin-seok argues that while the vast records left by Babylon and Egypt remained ledgers of survival, the abstraction drawn out by the ancient Greeks became the blueprint for designing the world — the difference between the eye that records a vegetable patch and the eye that designs a garden. The question “why” sets up a ladder of abstraction, and only those who climb it escape other people’s scripts to become the lawmakers of their own lives.
